SAC & SAS Launch Strategic Visions for the Future

This morning marked a defining moment in St. Anne’s and St. Andrew’s history as we proudly unveiled our new strategic plans: In Flight for St. Anne’s and Forward. Boldly. for St. Andrew’s. The launch event, held on the SAC campus, brought together our employees and a selection of students to celebrate a shared vision for the future.

The event kicked off in Staunton Gallery with a delicious breakfast featuring special red and white cupcakes that added a festive touch. Excitement quickly escalated as Grade 8 students from SAS surprised the crowd with a spirited flash mob, energizing the community before leading everyone into Ketchum Auditorium for the main presentations.

At the heart of both plans lies a commitment to transforming education, fostering strong relationships, inspiring citizenship, and growing vibrant, inclusive communities. The launch showcased how each school’s unique identity is honoured while embracing the power of our partnership to create extraordinary opportunities for students.

Each plan is built on six pillars: Transforming teaching and learning, exploring purpose and passion, inspiring citizenship, nurturing wellness, growing community, and investing in us. A crucial seventh pillar – the foundation of our collaboration – is our shared commitment to the partnership, now redefined in a singular word: Partnerhood – the sui generis bond between St. Andrew’s College and St. Anne’s School; the junction where Everything & More meets Unlike Anything Else. If you’re not up on your Latin, sui generis means “of its own kind.” Anything sui generis is its own thing; there’s nothing else like it.

The central theme of the launch was our Partnerhood—two distinct schools united by shared values and complementary strengths. This
Partnerhood blends single-gender academics with partnered extracurricular activities, giving students the best of both worlds: focused learning environments within their respective schools and meaningful collaboration across both campuses.

The event featured powerful presentations, where students from both schools shared heartfelt reflections on what their school means to them and how the Partnerhood enriches their educational journey. Their words underscored a deep sense of belonging and the unparalleled opportunities collaboration fosters.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, the SAC/SAS Rock Band delivered two fantastic performances – Go Your Own Way by Fleetwood Mac and Layla by Eric Clapton, energizing the crowd and showcasing the incredible talent within our community.

Mark Etherington ’92, Board Chair, addressed the audience with words of encouragement and a vision for the future. Sabrina D’Angelo, Head of St. Anne’s, and Kevin McHenry, Head of St. Andrew’s, delivered inspiring messages, emphasizing that these plans are not just documents but living commitments to action.

Nicolette Fleming, Director of Communications, presented both Heads of School with the first-ever “Partnerhoodies!” Be on the lookout in the campus shops in the coming months to grab your own and show your school spirit.

The celebration concluded with a captivating two-minute film by
William Scoular, Director of Drama & Film, capturing the spirit and energy of the Partnerhood. This video showcases the essence and strength of our unique collaboration in action. We invite you to watch and experience it for yourself.

The excitement and energy from this morning’s event set the tone for what promises to be a transformative journey. As both schools move forward, they do so with bold ambition, a clear purpose, and a belief in the power of education to change lives.
