St. Anne’s Mission Statement Launch

This morning, the halls of St. Anne’s were buzzing with excitement and energy as students and staff gathered in the Great Hall to witness a momentous occasion: the reveal of the school’s mission statement. It was a party to remember, filled with joy, empowerment, and the unmistakable bond of sisterhood.

The event began with Head of School, Sabrina D’Angelo, sharing the heartfelt journey that led to this defining moment.

“I was often asked how I could open SAS without a mission statement, and standing here today, I am grateful that I made that decision,” said Sabrina. “Over the past several years, starting with the First Cygnets, we’ve talked a lot about who we want to be and what characteristics will signify a St. Anne’s graduate. Today, I am thrilled to say that this mission statement is the culmination of voices from Grades 5 through 11, parents, staff, and other community members. It is a true reflection of a shared purpose we already see our students living today.”

The anticipation was palpable as students arrived at Dunin House, greeted by empowering music, balloons, and an array of delicious treats, including white chocolate-covered strawberries and strawberry-banana smoothies. The highlight? Each student received a white mission T-shirt, which they donned with pride, setting the tone for a day of unity and celebration.

Throughout the gathering, students shared what it means to be a Cygnet and how St. Anne’s is shaping them into courageous learners and compassionate leaders.

“St. Anne’s understands the importance of student voices and respects and listens to our views and opinions, from the simplest things to our deepest concerns. The St. Anne’s community is full of empowered girls who have become sisters,” said Gabby, Grade 6, to the engaged audience.

From stepping outside their comfort zones to building a network of unconditional support, the students painted a vivid picture of the values that define life at St. Anne’s.

“St. Anne’s has given me so many new opportunities to grow, try new things, and find my voice. This school has helped me gain more confidence and courage in my everyday life. I now know I can take on new challenges and trust myself,” added Catherine, Grade 7.

As the girls entered the Great Hall, each received a red marble, which they held onto throughout the celebration, curious about its significance. At the event’s conclusion, Assistant Head of School, JJ Patterson, and Director of Middle School, Janine Franklin, revealed its meaning. The marble represents each student’s pledge to live out the mission of St. Anne’s. They explained that its circular shape symbolizes the infinite nature of unity and the enduring legacy of the St. Anne’s community. With this understanding, the girls stepped forward to place their marbles into a beautifully designed glass swan, creating a lasting symbol of their shared commitment.

The celebration culminated in a dazzling performance of Katy Perry’s Roar by Tadiwa and Idara, with the crowd singing along and confetti cannons adding an electrifying finish.

The morning was a testament to the spirit of St. Anne’s and its commitment to empowering young women. As the glass swan now sits proudly on display, it serves as a daily reminder of the community’s pledge to courage, compassion, and wisdom.

The festivities didn’t stop there. Students gathered in the dining hall to create bracelets featuring inspiring words such as courage, compassion, and wisdom—reminders of the mission they pledged to live by. They also had a blast striking poses in the red-and-white-themed photo booth, capturing moments of joy and togetherness with friends and teachers alike.
