Sr. Flag Football Brings Home CISAA Gold

Coming into the Final Four as the third seed, the Sr. Flag Football team knew they needed their best performance to claim the school’s first-ever CISAA gold medal—and they delivered in spectacular fashion!

Facing Holy Name of Mary in the semi-finals, who had defeated the Cygnets earlier in the season, the team fell behind 6-0 early. Undeterred, they responded with two electrifying touchdowns: a perfectly executed hook-and-ladder by Sara and Maya and a touchdown pass from Maya to Sara. Holding onto a slim lead late in the game, Kylie sealed the victory with a stunning 50-yard pick-six, ending the game at 18-6.

In the championship match against Branksome Hall, the Cygnets once again found themselves trailing 6-0 at halftime, battling tough wind conditions and a formidable defence. Determined to turn the tide, the team came alive in the second half. Maya led the charge with two pivotal touchdowns, including an incredible 90+ yard run in the fourth quarter to break the tie. She capped the game with a decisive pick-six, putting the Cygnets out of reach. Despite a late Branksome score, the Cygnets emerged victorious, 18-12, to claim the gold.

After starting the season 1-2, the team surged back with five consecutive wins, outscoring opponents 110-38 in a dominant stretch fueled by their quick-strike offence and relentless defence. Congratulations to every team member for an unforgettable season and an incredible achievement!
